Internships & Learnerships
Making A Difference One Child At A Time
The Difference
What is an internship and how does it work?
Internships provide a structured working experience and exposure that is aligned with your particular field of study. The main focus of an internship is to give you a feel of a full-time working environment and what a particular role is like, while simultaneously facilitating the enhancement of both your personal and career development.
What is learnership and how does it work?
A learnership is an excellent way to gain the necessary skills to work within a specific industry and provides you with the knowledge, skills and ability to perform in a professional environment. All you need is motivation, desire, passion and perseverance.
After applying for a learnership and being accepted, the company will make an assessment of your previous experience and determine what skills and knowledge you will need to learn.
They will also assess your potential to excel and teach you the skills you will need to work at their company.
The Qualifications
Can I do a learnership without Matric?
Transnet is a large South African rail, port and pipeline company which offers lots of graduate jobs as well as jobs for people without matric. They offer learnerships which are used for gaining theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the workplace.
How can I get my matric without experience and Matric?
We have the programme for you. Our Adult Matric programme will allow you to get your matric via distance learning. All you need is to be 21 and older, and have the ability to read, write in English. Even if you don’t have experience and matric, it shouldn’t stand in your way of becoming successful.
What Are The Requirements Of A Learnership?
The requirements for a learnership vary from company to company but usually include:
You must be over 16 years of age, but younger than 35 years of aged;
You must have completed matric or have a relevant qualification;
If you're not South African you must have resided in South Africa for more than 12 months.
Learnerships teach you the basics of your chosen field and familiarize you with the various aspects of the industry. It is also a great chance for companies to assess your skills, capabilities and personalities.
