Our Students Shelter Programmes provides services that includes:

1. Students Emergency Shelter

The Sanctuary Students Shelter is the only emergency night shelter in the country offering temporary assistance to the dispossessed students. We provide shelter and support services to dispossessed students, ages 18 to 25, who don't have a safe place for the night while looking for alternative accommodation. We give preference to students who present valid proof of registration with recognizes educational institutions.

2. Students Counseling Support & Referral

Counseling youth can be difficult when traditional talk therapy may serve as a barrier in communication. A great deal of resistance may exist when working with students because of their internal and external developmental transition from child to adult. In order to combat this, our counselors equip themselves with a variety of creative techniques that promote both verbal and nonverbal expression in a way that is therapeutic rather than stigmatizing. We do our utmost to assist dispossessed students on minor challenges like drug/alcohol abuse, Stress & Time Management, Materialism, Obesity, Single Parent Households, Education Inequality, Growing Up Too Fast, etc.

In instances where the challenge requires professional help we do a point of referral to the professional and specialized institutions.

3. Case Management & Drop-In Centre

The Sanctuary Students Shelter provides a home-like setting with beds available for students ages 18-25 needing emergency and temporary shelter. Students are assigned to a room with their same gender that contains bunk-beds, linens and wardrobe lockers for personal items. The facility also includes a kitchen, multi-purpose/dining area, a living room, a family room, computer lab, a single-use bathroom and situated in a secured area. The access is controlled by staff members.

Intensive case management is offered to help dispossessed students become re-united with family or self-sufficiently contributing to our community. Our programs connect each student, on an individual basis, with resources to build the skills that are needed to support a healthy future. Transportation is available for the students to attend educational institutions and extracurricular activities. We accessible to busses and taxis.
